Cho Jae-young, a Yonhap News reporter in Seoul, reported that the first 'Permanent Online Textile Exhibition' (www.ktextile.net/virtual-exhibition) was opened in Korea which applies cutting-edge technologies such as 3D and virtual reality (VR).

On September 3, the opening ceremony was held at KOTRA with a small number of people including Minister of Industry and Energy Sung Yun-mo and KOTRA President Kwon Pyeong-oh.

This online exhibition hall, led by the Korea Textile Export-Import Association, provides a 360-degree video on 3D virtual market. Unlike existing exhibitions that focus on text and photos, the new application gives users the impression of participating in a regular offline exhibition.

Buyers from overseas will have the chance to check the color, gloss, surface texture and flexibility of cloths via online without physically touching the fabric.

Reportedly, the domestic textile industries will be able to continue overseas exhibition and marketing online 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

As it is linked with Buy Korea, a domestic export platform, online consultation, electronic payment, and product orders can be performed with ease.

Currently, 28 textile companies and 280 products have been registered into the hi-tech store, and 51 companies and 1,20 products are expected to join by the end of this year.

The Ministry of Industry, with the help of the online textile exhibition hall, will sequentially run regular online exhibitions categorized by 10 industries such as electronics, smart home, biohealth, chemicals, machinery, robots, new and renewable energy, shipbuilding, and automobiles.

"Even if the COVID-19 pulls back, the non-face-to-face market will continue to develop. For this reason, Korean companies should also prepare for the future of trade. The opening of the virtual textile exhibition hall is an opportunity to promote non-face-to-face and online exports. I look forward to it" said the Minister Sung Yun-mo.
